December 18, 2017 is quickly approaching. That is the deadline for all professional truck drivers to be using e-logs. Before the day is here, make sure you are prepared. Here is everything you need to know about the ELD mandate.
1. It is happening
Many organizations have protested the mandate. At this point, there is no denying it, the mandate is going to occur. It is better to get ready than to wait until the date passes.
2. The mandate is supposed to benefit the professional truck driver
The professional truck driver is still in charge of his or her logs. ELD devices are just a different way to track hours than the traditional paper logs.
3. HOS rules are staying the same
An ELD will not change the drive time a professional driver may work. The Hours of Service (HOS) rules are staying the same. The way those hours are measured is what is changing.
