Below is a letter from TransLand Chairman and CEO, Mark Walker regarding National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW).
It seems like there is a day to celebrate everything; Squirrel Day, Pasta Day, Fried Chicken Day or my favorite – National Chocolate Day. These special days, weeks or months all celebrate something of importance. Well, it is important to someone.
However, the week of September 9 – 15 is an important week to all of us. It is the annual National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. For the past 18 years, the American Trucking Association has dedicated one week every year to honor all 3.5 million professional truck drivers for their hard work and commitment in tackling one of our economy’s most demanding and important jobs.
These men and women work long hours away from home, battle traffic daily and miss important family moments all to deliver the goods we need on time, securely and most importantly – safely.
Move over National Creamed Filled Donut Day (September 14) and take the time to say “thank you” to the professional truck drivers dedicated to powering the country. Better yet, go ahead and celebrate National Creamed Filled Donut Day by purchasing one for these hardworking individuals. Without them, our communities would not thrive.
Mark Walker
TransLand Chairman & CEO
While we are appreciative of all professional truck drivers every day, our in-house team wanted to say, "Thank you."
