Company values are what support the vision, shape the culture and demonstrate what is important to the company. Those core values should mean a lot to you, the professional truck driver.
The dictionary defines ethical as, "being in accordance with the rules or standards for right conduct or practice, especially the standards of a profession."
Here are 3 reasons why ethical practices as a core value should matter to you.
1. Being ethical is good
Whether you believe it or not, employees represent the company they work for and the profession they drive for. Employees should be a good representation of those ideals.
2. Doing the right thing even if nobody is looking
You do not want to work for a company that tells you one thing, then does another. The same notion goes for always doing the right thing, even is nobody is looking. You will be able to tell if a trucking company is a good fit for you.
3. How the company and employees conduct themselves reflects back to the company.
We have said it before and we'll say it again. Core values equate to company culture. You shold want to work for a place you are proud to represent.
